It will soon be time for the ‘Air Show’ in Swansea. Last year due to being away i was unable to be there. This year I am looking forward to going and hope the event will be able to have dry, warm weather
This is a recollection of an outing back in the summer of 2011.
All morning it had rained but by the afternoon the skies cleared to give way to warm sunny weather.
The trip to Swansea was to see the air show taking place on Swansea foreshore.
I called into my son’s flat to wait for him as he was still in work. I made a cup of tea and the dogs (my dog and his girlfriends’) became acquainted with each other again.
My son lives near to the beach and together we set off on the quickest route, keen not to miss much of the activity.
Due to the expanse of the beach we did not want to get up to where all the people were so we approached by the dock end and walked through the sand-dunes. It was the time of year that dogs were not allowed on the beach.
At the end of the sand-dunes there is a place to sit on the wall and we had a good advantage point to see the planes giving their display. Both dogs were unperturbed by the noise of the aircraft and played in the sand and sat to watch too.
We noticed other folks had taken to walking with their dogs, families sat on the beach and the children dug in the sand, building sand castles. A delightfully relaxing scene.
The highlight of this day was to watch the RED ARROWS give their display. They swooped and flew the length of the beach. Made patterns in the sky with the coloured smoke emitted from the back of the plane.
All too soon it was over and we all headed back to the flat for yet another cup of tea before Spotty and I returned home and my son back to work.
