Competition Time- The Garden

Spotty enjoys the quiet Yard

The door bell rang at 12.30. Spotty got up and came to the door and when I opened it to our visitors she went down the steps to greet them. She has not done this for a very long time. As we walked round the garden, Spotty accompanied us. They weren’t all that chatty.

I was surprised to see this Lily had just flowered. Must have come out specially for the judges.

Here are some more photos of the garden.

As you will have read in my other blogs last year i bought several Fruit Trees. I am pleased to say I have 2 Apples on one of the trees. The others are not fruiting this year. Hopefully next year there will be fruit next year.

getting the garden ready for the competition was hard as I only had one week to put the garden back to how it was prior to the building work. They did good work by Rendering the back walls but failed dismally in cleaning up after them.

They left me a ton of pebble dash and some sand on the front lawn as you can see in my photo. But this was all gone prior to judging. My son helped me make an edging on the front patio.

All the yards had been left in a mess and had to be swept and hosed down. The windows are dirty with marks of the stuff used and have yet to be sorted out.

I can now relax and enjoy the garden once more. Peace and no workmen back and forth all day.

Spotty is still getting a little better each day. We went to the beach and have found one that is all sand and where dogs are allowed – a 20 minute drive away. She loved walking on the soft sand and smelling the odd rocks. She talked to other dogs and even gave a ‘growl and bark’ which she has not done for ages. We played ball too and her smile told it all. The sun was out and it was warm.
