For the last 12 days my left Knee, on the inside, has given me a lot of pain. It is a very sharp pain lasting for about an hour and happens 4 x a day. OUCH OUCH. On the 3rd day I visited the doctor and was informed ‘oh you have just moved to where you have stairs and you are not used to them’. She said to take 2 Paracetamol and it would soon go. The pain remained getting worse and preventing me from having a good nights sleep. It has also stopped me from doing stuff needed in making my new home my own
A week later I phoned and she then said to go and have an x-ray. That was yesterday afternoon. After the x-ray the nurse told me it would be 2 weeks before I would have the result. You can imagine I was devastated!!!! The pain killers were not working and I was in extreme pain. I decide to visit the free drop in to see the physiotherapist.
This resulted in a good response. The knee has developed arthritis. He explained it all, gave me a booklet with exercises in, showed me which ones to do. I would be put on the physio list and for the pain take Ibrufron. The whole appointment took about 20 minutes.
I have commenced doing the exercises and already it is improving. As I have said before I am beginning a new life and will be considering doing further exercise to help the aches and pains. My exercise before was just walking the dog. Looking back over the past few years I had become sluggish. So am planning to incorporate a visit weekly to the local swimming baths.
Well a busy weekend ahead as my daughter and son-in-law will be doing their first visit to the new house and help in putting curtain poles up and other bits
